Thorn Renews Business Programme Partnership with EECA
Thorn accepted as a Business Programme Partner with EECA until 2015.
Partnership with EECA means that Thorn can offer lighting subsidies to its customers under the Business Programme scheme provided they meet certain criteria. Applications are evaluated on a case by case study.
EECA (Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority) Te Tari Tiaki Pūngao is the organisation set up by the New Zealand Government to encourage, support and promote energy efficiency, energy conservation, and the use of renewable sources of energy.
EECA provides some funding and financial assistance to help New Zealand businesses to invest in more efficient products or systems. EECA does this because the upfront cost can be a barrier, even though these projects pay for themselves over time.
Thorn works in partnership with EECA to deliver their funding programmes.
With help from Thorn, a Commercial Project Grant from EECA may fund up to 40% of the cost of energy efficiency projects – to help get the project ‘over the line’.
Energy-efficient buildings cost less to run, hold their value longer, and are more comfortable. Most commercial buildings in New Zealand waste energy needlessly, creating extra cost.
Commercial Project grants may be used for upgrading or replacing your existing lighting.
Examples of eligible buildings could include offices, retail outlets, food stores (e.g. supermarkets), warehouses, hospitals, hotels etc. There is no minimum size.
Thorn can assist you to obtain an EECA grant and get your project ‘over the line’ with the proviso that the project meets EECA funding criteria by guaranteeing a level of cost-effective energy savings with a payback period of two or more years.
