Thorn and Sunderland kick off new floodlight partnership

Thorn Lighting and Sunderland AFC have announced a new two-year partnership that will bring the innovative new Altis floodlight system to Sunderland's Stadium of Light.

Altis is a high-performance discharge floodlight, which meets all requirements for high-definition sports broadcasting. The installation will be ready for the start of the 2014/15 Premier League season.

"The new system we are installing at Sunderland has been meticulously designed with the latest technology in mind," says Noel Whiffin, Key Account Manager at Thorn Lighting. "Altis eliminates visible flicker and provides excellent lighting levels, to make HD football coverage better than ever.

The new floodlight system at Sunderland will feature the patented Altis® optic, a rotational reflector which provides greater efficiency and an outstanding viewing experience. The Altis optic reduces glare and sky glow, while the latest short-arc double-ended lamps provide improved lumen output, colour rendering and colour temperatures.
