On Thursday, 2nd October, over 200 customers from all over Italy joined the Thorn team in Italy to celebrate the launch of the new outdoor luminaire Urba as well as the renovation of the light garden in Bologna.

For this event, the Thorn light garden in Bologna has been renovated and completely transformed by installing new luminaires from the Thorn product portfolio as well as integrating lighting controls for exciting lighting effects. But not only lighting effects were demonstrated; a focus was also to show motion detection sensors which increase the lighting level when a car or a pedestrian passes by.

During the evening, moderated by the architect Francesco Pagliari from the magazine The Plan, the members of the Municipality of Ferrara, which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site, presented their project of urban renovation in Ferrara to the audience. This project has been developed over the last seven years in cooperation with the Zumtobel Group, Thorn played a vital role in the outdoor lighting.

Afterwards the architect Simone Gheduzzi, partner of Diverserighe Studio, presented the project "Diversamente Bologna". This project focuses on ideas and suggestions on how to reshape the city of Bologna from an architectural, urban, social and economic perspective, to make it more attractive to inhabitants, visitors and investors.

The evening concluded with guided tours of the light garden, where the latest products from the Thorn outdoor product portfolio such as R2L2, Sydra and Satin 2 were presented to the participants. A special emphasis was put on Urba, which is the most recent addition to the product portfolio. Urba is a versatile, comfortable and elegant outdoor luminaire, which can be used for e.g. main and minor roads or building surroundings.
